Diwali/Govardhan puja celebrations - Friday, Nov 1st
Please join us in celebrating Diwali and Govardhan puja festival on Friday, Nov 1st, evening.
Govardhan puja commemorates the lifting of Govardhan hill by Lord Krishna 5000 years back. Lord Krishna saved the residents of Vrindavan village from torrential rains by lifting Govardhana Hill as a huge umbrella and holding it aloft for seven days. On this day every year, we celebrate Lord Krishna’s protection and love for His devotees.
Diwali (or Deepavali) is the day when Lord Sri Rama returned to His ancestral kingdom after 14 years in exile, and many adventures. All the citizens of Ayodhya welcomed Lord Rama home by lighting lamps. Also, Diwali is the day when Lord Krishna enacted the Damodar pastime.
