Important Update on New Temple Project from Temple President
Dear Friends,
Hare Krishna!
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
As most of you are aware, we have been enthusiastically promoting the initiative for purchasing land for building a new temple in Bethany. In response to this endeavor, many of you have made very generous and heartfelt donations. In addition, many teams of devotees have formed to create awareness of this project in the greater Portland community. By any measure, financial or in terms of increasing the desire of the community to please Śrī Krishna Bhagavān, we have met with success. None of this would have been possible without all of your support and prayers.
However, we have now been informed by Washington County that the land that we were hoping to purchase is not approved for any new development (including a temple), because the County has preexisting plans for this land. These plans would render the proposed land to be unsuitable as a temple property. It should be noted that we were not informed by the seller or the county about this situation prior to fundraising. Thus we have elected to terminate our interest in purchasing the proposed property.
But, feeling the mercy of Śrī Krishna Bhagavān, we will continue to actively look for land in Bethany and pray that we will find a suitable land with the desire of the Lord.
Please let us know via email ([email protected]) if you have already fulfilled your donation pledge and would like to get your funds back. If you are yet to fulfill your pledge then please hold off on fulfilling your pledge until we find suitable land for the temple. In either case, we are grateful to you and hope that we have obtained your trust in the transparent manner in which we have pursued this project.
Thank you again for having the hope and faith in building a new temple in Bethany. By your earnest prayers and sincere endeavors and the mercy of Śrī Krishna Bhagavān, this will happen.
Your grateful servant,
Jaisacinandana das
