About the festival:

Narasimha Chaturdashi is the appearance day of Sri Narasimha, the half-lion half-man incarnation of Bhagavan Sri Krishna, who appeared to protect His devotee Prahlada from his demoniac father Hiranyakashipu. This festival is of great significance to all vaisnavas. Sri Narasimhadev removes all obstacles on the path of devotional service.
